How Frog Bikes leads in kids’ bike sustainability

At Frog Bikes, we’re committed to reducing our environmental impact through practical actions. Our bikes are made with responsibly sourced aluminium, and our packaging is designed to be recyclable and to reduce waste. We’ve also improved our manufacturing processes to make them more energy-efficient. Choosing a Frog bike means supporting a company that’s actively working toward more sustainable practices with real steps you can track.

Let’s pedal towards sustainability together!

What are the most sustainable kids' bike brands?

Well, Frog Bikes leads the way. Let’s take a look at why:

Eco-friendly bike materials: Pioneering sustainable components

What makes Frog bikes eco-friendly?

25% post consumer recycled aluminium

We’re shifting gears toward a greener future! Frog Bikes is rolling out frames and forks made with 25% post-consumer recycled aluminum, cutting down the need for new raw materials and drastically reducing carbon emissions. This game-changing move could slash our total emissions by up to 15%, and we’re not stopping there! We’re already exploring 50% recycled aluminum, pushing the boundaries of sustainable bike manufacturing. Stay tuned, big changes are on the horizon!

Did you know?
Aluminium is a fantastic material for bikes, it’s lightweight, durable, and infinitely recyclable with minimal energy use. 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use today!

Eco-friendly bike tyres

We’ve teamed up with reTyre, a trailblazing Norwegian brand revolutionising bike tyres with recyclable, bio-based materials and cutting-edge sustainable production. These innovative tyres slash emissions from start to finish - raw materials, manufacturing, and even disposal!

Frog Bikes will start rolling out reTyre tyres in 2025, with a full switch to 100% reTyre tyres by the end of the year. That means every ride will be greener, cleaner, and better for the planet.

Lighter cranks and fewer spokes

We’re making every ride lighter, faster, and greener! We’re constantly innovating to use fewer materials without compromising on performance. Our sleek, lightweight cranks and redesigned wheels with fewer spokes mean less waste, a smoother ride, and an even better biking experience. It’s all about smart design that’s better for young riders!

Rice-husk pedals

Our FrogFit Technology® pedals are crafted from an innovative rice husk composite that would otherwise go to waste, cutting plastic use by 50%, all while delivering the same top-notch performance.

FUN FACT
Children can offset the carbon footprint of producing a Frog bike simply by cycling to school twice a week for a year instead of travelling by car.*

*Based on 0.26kg CO2e per mile in an average petrol car in 2023. Average of 90.17 total emissions per Frog bike. 342 miles to offset emissions from making the bike. 2.20 miles being the average distance to school. 71 days to offset. 38 school weeks per year. 1.87 days per week would be enough to offset emissions in a year.

Sustainable packaging: How we minimise waste

How does Frog Bikes reduce packaging waste?

We’ve revolutionised our bike packaging to slash waste. Our bike boxes are now crafted from 82% recycled paper and are 100% recyclable so that you can ride with a cleaner conscience. Plus, our cardboard crinkle machine lets us reuse up to 70% of the packaging we get from suppliers, giving old cardboard a brand-new life! And the best part? We’ve eliminated almost all plastic from our packaging. Less waste, more adventure.

Responsible manufacturing: Our commitment to Net-Zero emissions

How is Frog Bikes reducing its carbon footprint?

Since 2019, we’ve been measuring and slashing our carbon footprint in bike manufacturing, one innovation at a time. By switching to renewable energy, using fewer materials, and ditching air freight wherever possible, we’ve already cut emissions by 23% per bike! Take a look at how in our 2023 Sustainability report >>

But we’re not stopping there! We’re fully committed to the UN’s Race to Zero campaign, aiming to halve emissions by 2030 and hit net zero by 2050.

Greener logistics: Going the extra mile

We're reimagining how we get your bikes to you, and we're all about reducing our carbon footprint every step of the way! Whenever possible, we ship by sea instead of relying on air freight, cutting emissions and moving toward a more sustainable future.

We've joined the coZEV group, with plans to switch to zero-emission shipping for all our products by 2040. Plus, we’re always searching for local suppliers to cut down on unnecessary travel, support our local economy, and make our operations even more agile and eco-friendly.

Powered by the future: We run on renewables

Our commitment also focuses on how we power our world! Both our factory and office run entirely on renewable energy, so every bike you buy is part of our planet-friendly mission.

We’ve also got electric vehicle charging points and an electric pool car, so even more journeys are powered by clean, renewable energy. Plus, we’re all about reducing waste: we separate and recycle everything we can, use low-voltage lighting, and make sure we switch it off when we’re not using something.

It’s not just what we make, it’s how we make it.

Empowering our community: A collective effort in sustainability

How can cyclists support eco-friendly biking?

Sustainability is a team effort, and at Frog Bikes, we’re all in! An internal survey revealed that 89% of our team feels empowered to drive sustainability forward, proving that every small action adds up to a big change.

But it doesn’t stop with us! By choosing a Frog bike, you’re joining a movement for a greener future, one ride at a time. Together, we’re not just making eco-friendly kids’ bikes; we’re shaping the next generation of conscious riders.

FUN FACT
A well-maintained Frog bike is built to last, often passed down through siblings or resold to new families. By designing bikes that stay in use longer, we help reduce unnecessary waste and promote a more thoughtful approach to consumption.
