Our Commitment to Sustainability
Pedalling towards a greener future
At Frog Bikes, sustainability is at the core of everything we do. From designing durable, long-lasting bikes to implementing eco-friendly practices in our operations, we are dedicated to reducing our environmental footprint and inspiring the next generation of conscious cyclists.
Our mission is to get more kids on bikes, equipping them with the life-long skills to travel around, to keep fit and to have fun, with no fossil fuels and no emissions (other than breathing heavily up the hills) . At Frog Bikes, we care about protecting the planet around us.
We have a responsibility to reduce the environmental impact of our bikes and operations, and we’re already making progress, with a 35% reduction in emissions per bike (since baseline year 2019). We have already exceeded our goal of halving our total emissions by 2030, and we are working on plans to achieve net zero no later than 2050.

Our key impact actions

We continually strive to improve the impact of our bike design and materials.
We're continually innovating to reduce the amount of materials used in our bikes, such as our lighter cranks and our redesigned bike wheels which use fewer spokes. We use novel materials to reduce our footprint - our FrogFit Technology® pedals are made of rice husk composite that uses 50% less plastic, we have started to switch to 25% post consumer recycled aluminium in our frames and forks, and we are exploring bioplastics.

Our bikes are built to last and we look for ways to extend their life.
With robust, high quality components, our bikes are designed
to withstand years of use and can be passed on to several
owners.
Our MOT scheme and factory outlet bikes help extend the life
of used or imperfect bikes, and we make sure spares are
accessible in standard sizing.

Our packaging is recyclable and virtually plastic-free.
Our bikes need to be safely packaged and protected, but to minimise our impact, our packing boxes are made from 82% recycled paper and are 100% recyclable. We also have a cardboard crinkle machine, which enables us to reuse up to 70% of the cardboard we receive from suppliers. We have eliminated virtually all plastics from our packaging, too, and have worked with our suppliers to help them switch from single-use plastic wrap to reusable paper bags and cardboard separators.

We're working on greener logistics.
Wherever possible we ship by sea rather than relying on air freight. We've joined the coZEV group and plan to transition to zero-emission shipping for all our products by 2040. We continually look at alternative suppliers that are closer to home with the aim to reduce unnecessary miles, support our local economy and improve our agility.

We run on renewables.
Both our factory and office run off renewables and we have electric vehicle charging points and an electric pool car so more journeys can be powered by renewables too. We separate and recycle waste from our offices and factory, use low voltage lighting, and make sure we turn everything off when not in use.

We're working with others in our industry and beyond to accelerate change.
We always look to work with like-minded, ethical, social & environmentally friendly suppliers. We participate in industry-wide initiatives (Shift Cycling & CONEBI), which allow relatively small brands such as Frog to exert more pressure on suppliers. This year, we have also worked with other manufacturers (in cycling, automotive and other industries) to share what we’re doing with recycled aluminium and encourage them to make similar improvements.
Reducing our emissions
On average, we emit 86kg of CO2e per bike
We've been working really hard to reduce our emissions
Our commitment to sustainability extends to every aspect of our bike production. Here's a breakdown of our emissions sources and our progress in reducing them.
Raw materials & components
89%
Of the 86 kg CO2e emitted per bike, 89% comes from the production of the raw materials and components used to build a Frog bike.
Inbound & outbound logistics
7%
7% of our per-bike emissions come from shipping and logistics, including the transport of materials and components to our factory, and delivering bikes to stores or directly to you.
Factory, office & staff emissions
4%
Just 4% of our per-bike emissions come from operating our factory and office buildings, along with the carbon generated by staff commuting, and working from home.

Be part of the change
Your choices make a difference. Discover how you can contribute to a more sustainable world with Frog Bikes, from responsible riding to supporting our green initiatives.
Ditch the car
Cycle rather than drive to school twice a week for a year to offset emissions from making a Frog bike.
Pedal your way to happiness
Cycling releases endorphins, the “feel-good” hormones, which can help reduce stress and improve your mood.
Explore your community
Cycling allows you to discover new places in your neighbourhood and beyond. It’s a fantastic way to explore parks, trails, and hidden gems you might otherwise miss.
Reduce air pollution
Cycling just 1 mile to and from school each day helps cut traffic congestion and reduce air pollution, an easy way to make a positive environmental impact.
