Frog Bikes kids sessions at Herne Hill Velodrome

The Herne Hill Velodrome built in 1891 and one of the oldest cycling tracks in the world has chosen Frog Bikes to be their official ‘kids bike’ partner.

The velodrome is an open-air cycle track in South East London and has a rich and long history as a vital grassroots cycling facility. It once hosted the track cycling events for the 1948 London Olympic Games and now offers affordable and accessible cycling sessions to riders of all ages and abilities. Including track, road, mountain biking and cyclocross, with specific sessions just for kids.

The partnership will enable the velodrome to refresh its fleet of kids track and hybrid bikes and increase the number of ‘Frog’ cycling sessions available to children, who will benefit from honing their skills on lightweight child-specific bikes.

Frog Bikes take an innovative approach in designing bikes specifically for children. It’s been fascinating to talk to the research and development team about the extent they go to in designing their bikes, and we hope to help them continue to develop their bikes and provide us with the best equipment for kids to learn to love the sport. Iain Cook, Cycling Manager at Herne Hill Velodrome.

Frog bikes are widely used at the velodrome, assisting children across a range of cycling activities, including track and the under 8’s pedal bike club. These sessions teach children from different backgrounds how to ride pedal bikes with confidence, helping them foster a healthy and active lifestyle.

We are delighted to be working with Herne Hill Velodrome in providing kids with the bikes they need to develop lifelong cycling skills. Supporting cycling facilities that offer sessions for children is key to helping kids experience the joy of riding. As Frog bikes are designed specifically for children, they are easier to ride, enabling kids to focus on improving their cycling technique and confidence. The velodrome is the perfect place for Frog Bikes to be accessible to children. commented Freya Harrison, Partnership Manager at Frog Bikes.

Once the velodrome re-opens, children visiting the track will have access to more than 60 brand new Frog Bikes!
