Frog Bikes New M.O.T Scheme
1 February 2021
Frog Bikes launch bike MOT pilot scheme
There has been a huge upsurge of children discovering a love of cycling over the past year, many using Frog Bikes that are pre-loved. To keep you and your bike safe, we have been working in partnership with some of our Bike Stockists to develop a Frog Bike MOT test.
Much like a car MOT test, the Frog Bike MOT test will give the bicycle a health check. The thorough inspection will check for damage, wear and tear and potential repairs or adjustments on 20 key safety points across the bike including brakes, gears, handlebars, saddle, frame, wheels and drive train.
MOT Results
There are three potential outcomes of the Frog Bike MOT test:
- 🚴 PASS - The bike is in good working condition and is road safe
- 🚴 PASS WITH ADVISORY - This will highlight any issues that may cause problems in the future, which will need to be monitored by the owner and acted on when required
- 🚴 UNSAFE - The bike does not meet basic roadworthiness standards and requires some maintenance in order to retake the MOT test
If the bike requires some repairs or adjustments the local Bike Stockist will highlight the issues that need attention. They can then book you in with a qualified mechanic at the store to arrange the service or repair.
Once the bike has passed the MOT test, you will be sent an MOT certificate for verification. And, subject to terms, a bike that passes the MOT will benefit from a 12 month transferable, limited, Frog Bikes warranty.
MOT Test Pilot Stores
At this stage, the MOT test for Frog Bikes is a pilot scheme, which we have initially rolled out to 6 stores. We hope to expand this service to many more stores across the UK and the Globe in the near future.
The 6 stores where you can get a Frog Bikes MOT test are below.
To arrange an MOT bike test, please contact the store directly using the contact details provided.

There may not be a local store near you that can offer a Frog Bike MOT test just yet, but if you need any potential repairs or adjustments on your bike, please take it to your local Frog Bike stockist, who will be able to help you.
Bike shops are currently classed as an essential service, so will remain open during the lockdown.
Want to offer Frog Bike MOTs in your store?
If you would like to be able to offer the MOT test for Frog Bikes in your Bike Shop, please get in touch to state your interest, by emailing MOT@frogbikes.com. As this is currently a pilot scheme, we will be looking to add further Bike Shops after the initial trial.
